PEKANBARU - Iwan Simatupang, the Head of the Inspectorate, has been appointed Acting Mayor of Pekanbaru, with Roni Rahkmat serving as Acting Head of the Pekanbaru City Environment and Cleanliness Service.
Iwan Simatupang replaces Tengku Ahmed Reza Fahlevi, who has returned to his duties as Secretary of the Pekanbaru City Environment and Hygiene Service.
The appointment of this Acting Officer is part of the government's strategic steps in solving the waste problem which has been in the public spotlight.
Maisisco, Deputy Head of the Communications and Information Service, indicated that the Mayor's decision to implement this adjustment was a strategic move to address the garbage problem in the Pekanbaru city region.
"This change is also relevant to trash management. The Deputy Head of the Environment and Hygiene Department was replaced today by the Headof the Inspectorate. This is part of the strategic initiatives taken by the Mayor to guarantee that trash management is rapidly resolved," said Maisisco, Tuesday (14/1/2025).
Maisisco also stated that this regulation is temporary until a final decision is made.
"What is clear is that the government wants this waste problem to be handled immediately," he added.
Meanwhile, Roni Rahkmat, the Mayor of Pekanbaru, acknowledged to halloriau.com that the Environment and Cleanliness Service's leadership has changed.
"Yes, there has indeed been a change in the Deputy Head of the Environment and Hygiene Service," he said briefly.
