PEKANBARU - Riau Regional Police were able to dismantle the Indonesia-Malaysia
international narcotics ring by apprehending eight people. The evidence confiscated totalled
76 kilogrammes of methamphetamine and 41 thousand ecstasy pills, making this revelation
one of the greatest in the Riau area in 2024.

Soebeti, revealed that the suspects were arrested in three separate case disclosures.
"We have arrested a total of 8 suspects. They acted as couriers to big dealers," said Commissioner Manang in a press conference, accompanied by the Head of Public Relations for the Riau Regional Police, Police Commissioner Anom Karibianto, on Wednesday (18/9/2024).
The first disclosure was made on Thursday (12/9/2024) at around 20.30 WIB in several
locations, namely Pekanbaru, Indragiri Hulu (Inhu), and Lubuk Linggau, South Sumatra.
"In this first disclosure, we succeeded in arresting several perpetrators who were carrying large amounts of crystal methamphetamine," said Manang.
The following incident happened on Monday (16/9/2024) am at Sultan Syarif Kasim Airport
(SSK) II Pekanbaru, when another suspect attempted to carry narcotics by air. On the same day, other arrests were made in Rokan Hilir (Rohil) Regency, Riau, and Jambi City at
approximately 02.30 WIB.
The suspects arrested came from various regions in Indonesia. Manang detailed, among them are MAM (52) and ZS (32) from North Sumatra (North Sumatra), M (52) and MS (52) from Pekanbaru, Riau, R (52) from Aceh, K (26) from Rohil Regency , Riau, BFI (52) from South
Sumatra, and J (32) from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) The investigation into this case is the product of the Riau Regional Police's narcotics team's efforts, which included collaboration with other authorities to curb the distribution of drugs that were causing problems in the community.
"We will continue to hunt down other
networks involved, and are committed to eradicating drugs from their roots," said Manang, as reported by tribunpekanbaru.
This case adds to a lengthy number of significant findings on cross-border drug trafficking in Sumatra. The police hope that the public will continue to take an active part in reporting suspected drug trafficking operations in order to safeguard the security and safety of the younger generation. (*)
