PEKANBARU - Cooperation Contract Contractor (KKKS) PT Bumi Siak Pusako responded quickly to handle the fire in the cooling pond area of Pit 3 of Emerald Field. It took no more than 4 hours for the fire to be controlled and extinguished.

"Alhamdulillah, PT Bumi Siak Pusako team was alert in dealing with the fire incident," said PT Bumi Siak Pusako General Manager Raihan.

"This incident also has no impact on PT Bumi Siak Pusako's production. Thank God, production is still normal," continued Raihan.

In a separate location, the Head of the SKK Migas Representative for the Northern Sumatra Region, Rikky Rahmat Firdaus, said that the success of this handling was due to the good synergy established with the Siak Regency Government, Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) and other stakeholders.

"The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) appreciates the support of fire engines from the Siak Regency Government, Pertamina EP Lirik, Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), PT Arara Abadi and Manggala Agni so that the incident was quickly resolved," said Rikky.

Siak Regional Secretary, Arfan Usman, said that the Siak Regency Government is always ready to provide assistance to all companies investing in Siak, including PT Bumi Siak Pusako.

"Alhamdulillah, we were able to help with the handling at BSP, so that the incident was quickly resolved. This incident also had no impact on the community and environment, only in the BSP operational area," said the Siak Regional Secretary.

Currently, the PT Bumi Siak Pusako Cooperation Contract Contractor is carrying out an investigation regarding the incident in question so that it does not happen again in the future. Previously it was reported that a major fire hit a waste pond belonging to PT Bumi Siak Pusako (BSP) in the Zamrud Area, Dayun District, Siak Regency, Riau, Friday (30/8/2024) evening.

Residents in the area were startled by a massive blazing fire that was spotted burning ferociously and producing dense black smoke. This fire incident was reported to have occurred at around 23.10 WIB, and as of 00.00 WIB, the fire had still not been burned out.

Head of the Fire Fighting Division of the Siak Regional Disaster Management Agency, Irwan Pryatna, said that a firefighting team was immediately deployed to the location as soon as they received the report.

He explained that the fire occurred in the PT Bumi Siak Pusako waste pond in the Zamrud area. According to him, two Siak Regional Disaster Management Agency fire engines with a capacity of 10 thousand liters had been dispatched to extinguish the fire.

In addition to the Siak Regional Disaster Management Agency, PT Bumi Siak Pusako's firefighting squad also sprang into action right enough to assist with the extinguishing operations in the Zamrud Area. (release)
