Commission III Highlights Riau Petroleum: Dont Just Be an Agent for PHR Participating Interest
PEKANBARU – Commission III of the Riau Regional People's Representative Council is still evaluating all Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) in order to maximize the Riau Provincial Government's Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget.
Riau Petroleum is in the main spotlight. Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) has asked Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) to pay attention to the legislative attention of Commission III so that it can be maximized by regional companies.
"The oil wells in PHR should be able to be utilized by Riau Petroleum,” stated Edi Basri,
Chairman of Commission III of the Riau Regional People's Representative Council, to
halloriau.com on Monday, January 20, 2025.
"Don't just be a Participating Interest (PI) agent, which is actually a compensation mechanism from PHR for the Riau Provincial Government,” Edi said after the hearing with the Riau Province Regional Secretariat's Economic Bureau.
This Gerindra politician said, apart from Riau Petroleum, all Regional-Owned Enterprises in
Riau would be targets for his party's evaluation.
“Because (BUMD in Riau) hasn't achieved the projected profits. There must be coordination among all Regional Owned Enterprises; Riau contains banks, insurance, and businesses in a variety of industries. If this is coordinated, it might generate additional revenue for the Riau Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget later,” he said.
“For the banking sector, it will be sent to Bank Riau Kepri Syariah, and for insurance, to the Regional Credit Guarantee. Regional-Owned Enterprise Companies must also make Bank Riau Kepri Syariah their primary bank,” he said.
Then Edi continued, his party will also evaluate the financial governance of Riau Regional Owned Enterprises.
“Keep away from waste in management. If it is wasteful, it will undoubtedly result in lower profitability,” he said.
"Also, how can Regional Owned Enterprises work more optimally, there are many potential business fields that Regional Owned Enterprises can work on in Riau,” he said.
Legal issues that occur in Regional-Owned Enterprises in Riau are also of concern to Commission III of the Riau Regional People's Representative Council.
"Legal issues in Regional Owned Enterprises also need to be resolved, so as not to disrupt the performance of Regional Owned Enterprises,” he concluded.
