JAKARTA - Pushing the Limit for the Better, PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) introduces the New GR86, which receives enhanced driving performance from GAZOO Racing (GR), providing a more challenging driving experience and an ability to better understand the instincts of its driver.

With input from racers and sports car enthusiasts, the changes in the New GR86 make it exceptionally fun to drive, whether on a racing circuit or for daily mobility.

Enhanced Racing Characteristics of the New GR86
Enhancements in the New GR86 include an upgrade to the shock absorbers to provide optimal contact with the asphalt while maintaining the distinctive sports car handling response.

GR has collaborated with Sachs (ZF) to provide shock absorbers that best suit the character of this sports car. The Electric Power Steering (EPS) has been upgraded to deliver more intuitive handling and natural response when interacting with the driver.

The performance of the FA24 2.387 cc 4-cylinder boxer engine remains highly capable. The advanced D-4S technology ensures optimal thermal efficiency, producing strong power output and torque.

The maximum power of 235 PS at 7,000 rpm and peak torque of 250 Nm at 3,700 rpm is a testament to the engine’s entertaining performance. The New GR86 utilizes rear-wheel drive (RWD), promising an unmatched driving experience.

To emphasize the racing feel, the 6-speed manual transmission features modified Engine Torque Control, allowing the driver to easily and clearly sense gear shifts. In addition, throttle control has been adopted to provide quicker acceleration response and improve high-speed performance.

In the 6-speed automatic transmission, the engine's rotation tolerance during downshifts has been increased, ensuring that maximum torque is easier to reach when the accelerator is pressed again. Supported by a broader torque range, this allows for a sportier driving style, even with the automatic transmission.

The New GR86 continues to apply a front-engine and RWD layout that adopts Toyota’s classic sports car style, characterized by a longer engine bay, low shoulder lines aligned with the hood, a compact cabin, and a wide body. The difference is the elegant Moss Green color, replacing Oasis Blue, alongside six other color options.

Inside the cabin, style upgrades include an Automatic Interior Light Off Function that activates when the door is opened or closed, a turn signal lever with a locking feature when operated, and the seat stitching, which has been changed from red to black. Additionally, the New GR86 is equipped with the latest version of T Intouch, which provides internet access.

To give a more sporty and dynamic appearance, customers can install the Toyota Customization Option (TCO) specifically for the New GR86. TCO offers customers the opportunity to stand out by customizing various accessories with guaranteed quality.

Special for the New GR86, available TCOs include the GR Sports Muffler, GR Aero Stabilizing Cover, GR Sports Side Visor, GR Interior Panel Set, GR Knee Pad, and GR Sun Shade. PT TAM also provides the T-CARE program, where customers don't have to worry about regular service costs up to the 7th scheduled service (a maximum of 3 years/60,000 km), plus an extended warranty of 1 year or 20,000 km.
